    THE CITY OF CASTLES

    Known as “the city of castles”, Osmaniye is a beautiful and pleasant Mediterranean city, has a texture that connects the east and West of the country.

    Osmaniye is also the hometown of world-renowned man of letters Yaşar Kemal, the first Turkish writer nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature. Yaşar Kemal was born in Hemite Village (Hemite Köyü). His famous novel, Memed My Hawk (İnce Memed), translated into more than 40 languages reflects the region.

    Osmaniye’s geographic location and contributions of multitude of civilisations and people gave the city a rich and diverse cuisine. Osmaniye, is also the national epicentre of peanuts and radish cultivation.

    With its numerous castles, thermal springs, plateaus, lush green forests, Kastabala Archaeological Site (Kastabala Arkeoloji Alanı), Ala Mosque (Ala Cami) and Karatepe-Aslantaş Open-Air Museum (Karatepe-Aslantaş Açık Hava Müzesi) Osmaniye has a lot to offer to visitors.
